The basic business logic is written in PL/SQL as we use Oracle for storing data; using Oracle without PL/SQL would be like having a car without an engine. No other language is executed as close to stored data as PL/SQL and therefore could not be more efficient for data processing than PL/SQL. PL/SQL allows us to use all specific Oracle database features (bulk operations, set operations, analytical functions, etc.). Thanks to this, we can get the Oracle database to work at maximum performance, which is up to two orders of magnitude than the most commonly used alternatives (Java + ORM).
